Major update on Aussie mum left fighting for life after undergoing cosmetic surgery in Vietnam

An Aussie mum's family has given an update on her condition after a cosmetic surgery nightmare in Vietnam, which left her fighting for life with multiple organ failure.

An Aussie mum who was left fighting for life in Vietnam after a botched cosmetic procedure has landed back on home soil.

Mum-of-three Chloe Mowday, 33, travelled to the Southeast Asian country late last year for minor surgery involving her nose and eyelids.

But she was rushed to hospital after suffering multiple organ failure, and medics placed her into an induced coma.

Before falling ill, Ms Mowday was planning additional trips around Southeast Asia with her husband, Josh, and their son, Elijah, during their holiday in Da Nang.

The Perth woman went under the knife again in an attempt to stop a flesh-eating infection from spreading.

Ms Mowday was scheduled to undergo a rhinoplasty and blepharoplasty, procedures the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons says are generally safe when performed by qualified practitioners.

She was able to fly home on a medical aircraft just before Christmas, but her fight is far from over, her family said.

Ms Mowday is currently in intensive care in Perth.

"She woke up about a week ago - she’s off the ventilator, is breathing on her own and talking,” her brother Rod told news.com.au.

A GoFundMe page was launched to cover medical evacuation costs and ongoing treatment bills.

At the time of writing, more than $62,000 has been raised to support the mother.

Her return home was a joint effort between her brother, her husband, and Vietnam-based Family Medical Practice (FMP).

"At first I was sceptical because once things like this go viral, you end up dealing with a lot of scammers,” Rod explained.

"But [FMP] have been amazing. It’s so hard to explain, there are just no words. It’s just so relieving to have her home."

In an update on GoFundMe, Ms Mowday's family thanked the public for their generosity.

"We are so thankful to each and every one of you who helped Chloe to get home. You all played a huge part, and we will never forget the absolutely amazing love and support," it read.

"She has a very long road of recovery and rehabilitation, and is still on life support in the hospital, though she is in very good hands."
