Two inmates have been charged with murder after allegedly beating a convicted pedophile to death.
Shannon Daniel Norgate, 28, was allegedly attack while being held at Central Queensland's Maryborough Correctional Centre on November 26, 2025.
He died days later at Hervey Bay Hospital on December 1.
On Wednesday, the Corrective Services Investigation Unit and Maryborough Criminal Investigation Branch charged a 29-year-old man and a 31-year-old man with the murder of Norgate.
Norgate had been jailed in March 2020 for five child abuse offences.
The court heard on three occasions he had disguised himself as a security guard and led children into toilet block at a Gladstone shopping centre and a school.
In another incident, Norgate had also followed two boys, aged four and five, into a school toilet block, the court heard.
He took the younger boy's hand and sexually abused him, which the five-year-old witnessed.

Norgate was released from prison after serving 406 days but was later jailed again for breaching multiple court orders.
Those included contravening an offender prohibition order and failing to report a reportable offender under the Child Protection Act.
In 2023 Norgate was sentenced to six years behind bars.
His alleged killers are due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday, January 8.
